Settings & Language

Configure theme, language, MIDI device, and synthesiser volume.

Profile

Set your display name under Profile. The name is shown in the greeting on the Home tab. It is stored locally and never transmitted.

MIDI Device

Displays the currently active MIDI input device and lists all connected devices. Tap a device to switch. See MIDI Setup for full details on detection and calibration.

Sound Volume

Drag the volume slider to adjust the synthesiser output level. The setting is applied immediately to FluidSynth and saved persistently. Setting to zero mutes audio without disabling the synthesiser.

Language

Switch the app language between English and German. The change takes effect immediately — no restart required. All UI labels, lesson text, error messages, and settings descriptions update instantly.

Lesson content is localised per locale file bundled with each lesson. If a lesson does not have a translation for the active language, it falls back to English.

Appearance

Toggle between light mode and dark mode. Pianove uses the iOS colour palette via PyLay's theming system. The selected theme is saved and restored on the next launch.

Content Creator Mode

Enabling Content Creator Mode unlocks the Creator tab in the home navigation. The Creator tab allows you to browse locally installed custom lessons and package them into .pianove-pkg files for sharing with others.

See Lesson File Format for how to create custom lessons and courses.

Reset

The reset option under Settings clears all progress data: lesson completion dates, streak history, practice session records, and achievement state. A confirmation dialog is shown before any data is deleted.

This action cannot be undone. Imported songs are not affected by a reset — only progress statistics are cleared.
